Connection and Anticipation

Writer's picture: Megan Roosen-RungeMegan Roosen-Runge

We are less than a week from surgery, and even anticipating it from way up in Alaska makes me feel nervous. I am anxious for Betty to be on the other side of procedures and interventions for a while and of course, more than anything, to have Betty return home!

I show our kids, Sam and Dot, pictures of Betty that Lauren sends to me and Dot will always exclaim "Buppy!" (her version of puppy) and kiss the phone. Sam often will pause, looking carefully at her picture and then say in his oh-so-sweet three-year-old voice, "I need her." Oof, those kids sure know how to pull on your heart strings.

Here is Dot facetiming with Betty from several days ago:

Just as our wonderful nanny sends us adorable pictures and funny videos of our kids over the course of the day while we are away at work, I am oftening eagerly awaiting my next text from Lauren with a cute Betty pic, or two, or six...

The videos that remind that she is still a loving, snuggly dog full of puppy spirit.

The glimpses of Lauren's unbridled devotion and patience.

Constantly reflecting on the opportunity for gratitude along this journey. Feeling incredibly grateful for Betty's team and all that have sent well wishes, prayers, or remote snuggles to this precious pup.
